Sister Cyril Brings Education to India's Poor FLASH VERSION
Sister Cyril Mooney, principal of the Loreto Day School in Kolkata, India, and founder of the Rainbow Program, helps give children in India's slums an education and better way of life. NewsHour special correspondent Fred de Sam Lazaro and producer Nikki See went to India to report on her program.

Sister Cyril, Sister Cyril grew up in Ireland and began working in India in the 1950s. Appalled at the poverty outside the private school where she worked, she later implemented changes that made education more accessible to the poor. Here, she speaks with students who are members of the National Cadet Corps, India's version of the ROTC.
