Militants Abduct 400 in Northwest Pakistan

Taliban fighter in Pakistan. Photo: Getty Images Taliban militants abducted at least 400 students, staff and relatives from a military-run college in a northwest Pakistani tribal region on Monday.

The attack occurred as militant violence is increasing in the country's tribal belt, and as the Pakistani army continued an offensive against the Taliban in the Swat valley in another part of the northwest.
