Because of continued fighting and instability, more than 4 million Iraqis have fled to other parts of Iraq or to other countries where they feel safer. Some are living in dilapidated refugee camps or trying to get by in other countries. The following photographs came from humanitarian aid group the International Rescue Committee.

| About 2.77 million Iraqis are displaced within the country, and about 1 million of those are in need of food and shelter, according to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. This camp is outside Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq, where people have constructed homes out of cardboard, blankets and sheets propped up with salvage timber. |
