Western Wall, About 2,000 years ago, King Herod the Great, the ruler of Jerusalem, built massive walls around Mount Moriah, where the Bible says Abraham almost sacrificed his son Isaac. Nearly all structures were destroyed by the Romans, but the wall survived and is considered the holiest site in the world by Jews.
