David Brooks is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times who frequently writes about politics and modern American culture. In 2000, he published his first book "Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There."
Brooks began his career as a wire reporter in New York City and joined The Washington Times in 1984 as a writer of editorials and film review. Two years later, he became an editor and foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. Brooks was based in Brussels and reported from both sides of the Iron Curtain. In 1994, he joined The Weekly Standard at its inception as Senior Editor. Brooks is also the editor of the 1996 anthology "Backward and Upward: The New Conservative Writing."
Brooks was raised in New York City and graduated from the
University of Chicago. He resides with his wife and three
children in Montgomery County, Maryland.
