Earthships: Environmentally Friendly Homes FLASH VERSION
Bottles, cans and tires are the building blocks for energy-efficient homes popping up in places such as the New Mexico desert. Although the homes are expensive to buy, the utility bills are cheap due to solar energy and internal water filtration systems. Tom Bearden snapped these photos while reporting a NewsHour broadcast story on green houses.
