Northern Playground
Relatively frequent commercial flights into Barrow (pop. 4,000), the northernmost town in the United States, make it a logical jumping off point for Arctic research. This is the second-most northerly playground in the U.S. -- only losing out on the superlative to the one a mile up the road.
