Arctic Haze, Arctic haze is caused by the buildup of pollutants at the North Pole that tend to linger through the winter and spring months. These photographs show the Arctic with the haze (top) and without. Two research missions in the spring of 2008, known as ARCTAS and ICEALOT, will study this phenomenon.
