Directors and members of Howard University's Showtime Marching Band reflect on what it means to march in President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural parade. Low temperatures in the nation's capital have not stopped the band's late-night rehearsals in preparation for its march along Pennsylvania Avenue and in front of the new president.

| Parade officials received a record 1,382 applications from groups hoping to march on Inauguration Day. Howard University's Showtime Marching Band was among those selected to represent the District of Columbia. D.C.'s Dunbar High School will also march in the parade. |
