This chart shows the average nightly journalistic content of the 24-hour cable news networks’ primetime newscasts (Jan. 21, 2002 – Jan. 24, 2002). Commercials, in-house promotions and other non-editorial content are excluded. Interview-format programs are also not included. The number in parentheses represents the average total minutes of editorial content per newscast.

CNN data is based on two hours of newscasts per night: "NewsNight", "Live from..." and "War Room". MSNBC data is based on two hours of newscasts per night: "The News" and "A Region in Conflict". FNC data is based on three hours of newscasts per night: "Special Report", "Fox Report" and "War on Terror".
