Behind the Battle for Cable News Viewers - March 2002
Interview Guests By Partisanship and Background
These charts show the distribution of appearances by guests in interviews on the 24-hour cable news networks’ primetime programs (Jan. 21, 2002 – Jan. 25, 2002) in both interview-format programs and newscasts. CNN had a total of 123 guest appearances, MSNBC 88 and FNC 109 mins. Partisans were those affiliated with a political party (all Republicans were counted as right; all Democrats as left regardless of ideology) or representatives of a politically-aligned NGO (non-governmental organization), non-for-profit organization or think tank.
