The new cuts follow a spate of layoffs in January, shortly after CNN parent Time Warner was acquired by Internet powerhouse America Online for $106.2 billion.

Four hundred of the company's 4,000 employees were let go in that round; a third of the cuts came from CNN.com.

CNN spokesman Matthew Furman said today the latest cuts are part of a push toward combining the company's TV and on-line staffs.

"CNN has been looking at ways to further investigate our television and Web properties." Furman said. "We found approximately 20 positions in our interactive division that reflected redundancies in areas of responsibility."

Furman denied reports of more job cuts in CNN's future, but said the company "will continue to review its operations with an eye toward improving efficiency."
