XM Radio and Sirius Announce Merger Plans
After five years of heated competition, XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio have agreed to join forces in an all-stock deal valued at $13 billion. The announcement yesterday ended years of speculation that the two money-losing ventures would be forced to merge or that one would eventually have to cease operations.

The merger will face broad opposition from consumer advocates and broadcasting industry groups, and will also be subject to rigorous federal review by the Justice Department anti-trust regulators and the Federal Communications Commission.
