1880: Daughter Jean is born.

1883: "Life on the Mississippi" published.

1884: "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", widely seen as Clemens' masterpiece, is published. He founds his own publishing company, Charles L. Webster and Company.

1889: "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" published.
