From 'A History of the World in 100 Objects'
Swimming reindeer, from the rockshelter of Montastruc, Tarn et Garonne, France, around 13,000 years old. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of Ice Age art ever found. It is carved from the tip of a mammoth tusk and shows two reindeer, one behind the other.
Originally presented as a BBC radio series and now a book published in America, "A History of the World in 100 Objects" tells the story of humanity using artifacts selected from the British Museum.
