Shards of glass still cling to some of Michigan Central Station's window frames. Named a U.S. Historical Building in 1975, renovation estimates have ranged from $80 to $300 million. In 2009 the Detroit City Council voted to demolish the station, but a resident sued to stop the process by citing the National Historic Preservation Act.
