The Holy Grail

"The point is that macroeconomists are on this enormous, incredible quest. The useful thing about the Holy Grail story is that it's the Biggest Doozy of Them All," cartoonist Grady Klein told us. "Plus, it helps illustrate the enormity of the challenge facing them: how do you harness all the creative energy in an economy without allowing the thing to self immolate?"

"If you can wrap your brain around why it's a big deal, and why it's so challenging, you can come a long way in understanding the challenges we currently face as a nation," he said. "Plus, it's great fun to draw dragons and knights."
