'Pink Tide'

Hugo Chavez met Cuban leader Fidel Castro during his tours in the 1990s and they bonded over a shared socialist ideology. Here in 2000, Castro and Chavez salute the unknown soldier monument in Campo Carabobo, Valencia, Venezuela, on Castro's official state visit. "Pink Tide" is a phrase used to describe the trend of left-leaning leaders in Latin America over the last several decades.
