Combat Paper: Veterans Repurpose Uniforms Into Art
I Hacky Sacked in Iraq
By Nathan Lewis
Print date unknown; poetry written in 2009
Lewis, who served in Iraq in 2003, printed a poetry compilation on paper made at the Combat Paper Project. "Most of these pieces were written long after returning home from Iraq, after memories digest and nonsense can dry up and blow away. Don't expect to read about heroic feats of soldiering or an epiphany of anti-war defiance. I did neither. Time has passed. Some memories remain, some fade," Lewis wrote in the introduction.
