Bastrop Wildfires, Central TX

The hot, dry summer sparked an active wildfire season in 2011 for Texas. One of the largest and most devastating fires burned through Bastrop County on September 4, burning 1,660 homes, more than any single fire in Texas history. This fire alone burnt 32,400 acres and caused 14 million dollars in timber damage according to the Texas Forest Service.
