Remnants of a Dream

While the tidal dam project was never completed, evidence of the project still exists, including the only road in and out of Eastport, which was built on a dike originally constructed for the Quoddy Dam Project. “The Quoddy dam project failed because at the end of the day, it had some serious flaws in terms of feasibility,” Chris Sauer, CEO of the Ocean Renewable Power Company explained. “But the people have never forgotten it and they've always dreamed in Eastport of fulfilling the dream of generating power from the tides.”
