Mei Xiang and Tian Tian

After Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing passed away, the Chinese government loaned the National Zoo a second pair of pandas, Mei Xiang (L) and Tian Tian.

Giant pandas come together for breeding once a year, but are otherwise mostly solitary in the wild.

The zoo only brings Mei Xiang and Tian Tian together once a year, during Mei Xiang's short fertile window.
