Passing Impressions of the American Road
Ocean Park, Sequential Views
Robbert Flick was part of a National Endowment of the Arts grant to document Los Angeles.
How do you photograph something that has been photographed so many times? Flick asked himself. The grid format broke the notion of the individual photograph by placing images in context next to each other.
Flick, Mayes and Fitch all challenged both the established vision of the American landscape and conventional aspects of photography.
