Air Pendentive

This pendentive is one of four that depict the elements (earth, wind, air, fire), in the Great Hall of the National Academy of Sciences. Each central medallion is surrounded by three smaller medallions illustrating how man has utilized the element. In the case of air, Meière chose a boat, windmill and bellows.
