An acre of sweet cherries takes about 140,000 bees to pollinate. Because of the early bloom this year, beekeepers had to bring their hives up to Michigan from the south five weeks early where they endured almost 20 nights of frost. Entomologists and horticulturists worry that bees won't be able to keep pace with earlier spring warm-ups.
