Emergency Response Meeting
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak (center) presides over an emergency meeting of the National Security Council after North Korea launched a rocket, at the Blue House in Seoul on Dec. 12. Diplomats say further tough sanctions are unlikely from the U.N. Security Council as China, the North's only major ally, will oppose them, reported Reuters.
North Korea successfully launched a rocket Wednesday to put a satellite in orbit, it said, though other countries like the United States viewed it as a "provocative" move.
