Japan's Reaction

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura speaks during a news conference after a meeting of the security council of Japan at Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's official residence in Tokyo on Dec. 12. Japan's top government spokesman Fujimura voiced protest over North Korea's rocket launch on Wednesday, calling it "extremely regrettable."

North Korea successfully launched a rocket Wednesday to put a satellite in orbit, it said, though other countries like the United States viewed it as a "provocative" move.
