Weber also tweaked the divertissement variations in the second act to reflect the culture and history of the Washington region. The Mother Ginger sequence is Heather Barnum and her little American circus clowns. A sneaky tomcat pursues five American cardinals during the Dance of the Reed Flutes. And the Arabian dance, seen here, is a duet danced by an two Anacostia Indians, a tribe once local to the region.
