Vasudha Desikan cheers the protesters atop Franklin School's roof. She later read this statement from the group, who called themselves "Free Franklin:"

"We are a group of organizers, activists, and D.C. community members involved in local struggles around affordable housing, homelessness and many other movements. This occupation of Franklin School is an action in solidarity with those movements and is a call for justice from the 99 percent here in D.C."
