While shellfish are not a primary protein for American diets, the shellfish industry provides steady income for many coastal residents. Michael Deveney helps guide a crate of Pacific oysters onto the boat. On an average day, Taylor Shellfish crews will harvest 50,000 oysters that will be shipped throughout the world. About 65 percent of Taylor Shellfish oysters are exported.
