Carter, the nation's 39th president, was governor of Georgia during his 50th birthday on Oct. 1, 1974, and chairman of the Democratic National Committee's congressional and gubernatorial campaigns. That year, he also appeared on the TV game show "What's My Line", where contestants guessed the guests' occupations.
