Mothers in Afghanistan face the highest risk of maternal mortality in the world, according to Save the Children. One Afghan woman in 11 dies in pregnancy or childbirth. The average woman in Afghanistan won't live to see her 50th birthday. In contrast, life expectancy for Japanese women is more than 87 years.
