One Photographer's Experience Documenting Mentally Ill Inmates
Bobby Slater looks out of his cell to an inmate-watcher walking around during his 15-minute duty. "This is a miserable life experience for them, but some of them don't want to leave because they have been in society and they saw what happened," says lead psychologist Dr. Tanya Young. "In here, for the most part, people treat them with respect."
