EAT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Whoever said an apple a day keeps the doctor away may have been on to something. According to the
American Diabetes Association
, making sure your child eats at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day can help prevent diabetes (and no,
pizza sauce does not count as a vegetable
). A good guideline is to
fill half of your child's plate
with fruits and vegetables and pair those with smaller servings of lean proteins, whole grains, and low-fat dairy.
