The new supermarkets have all the conveniences of American grocery stores. This Pick n Pay opened in Lusaka two years ago. Local small farmers can prosper if they supply the chains. If the supermarkets bypass local farmers in favor of cheaper and more reliable imports, their livelihood could be threatened.
