In Surprise Move, McCain Chooses Palin as Running Mate

Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin; AP photoSen. John McCain  revealed Friday that he has chosen little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. McCain said he was looking for a political partner "who can best help me shake up Washington and make it start working again for the people who are counting on us."

Palin, 44, is a mother of five and a political reformer who has been governor of her state less than two years.

The news comes on the heels of Sen. Barack Obama's speech accepting the Democratic nomination in front of or roaring crowd of thousands at a Denver stadium.
