Discovery of fish fossil could transform understanding of evolution
A 419-million-year-old fossil of a fish was unearthed Wednesday in China, revealing the oldest known "face" of a creature.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, from that face evolved "virtually all the faces that have followed in the hundreds of millions of years since," including yours.
The finding could lead to a better understanding of "how vertebrates evolved over time" and ultimately transform our entire understanding of evolution.
