EU delegation: 'Frank exchange' over NSA allegations
"We're concerned, too, about security, and we made that very clear. But also there is a balance to be struck with the privacy of citizens, and I think these frank exchanges need to rebuild that very important trust."
Moraes was part of an EU delegation that met for more than an hour behind closed doors with Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. After the meeting Rogers said he would lead a U.S. delegation to Brussels to continue the conversation. On Sunday Rodgers suggested that the revelations about Washington's surveillance programs abroad were not surprises to European intelligence agencies, but to the governments for which they work.
