Tropical storm forms in Gulf of Mexico
The AP is reporting that a tropical storm formed in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday morning, about 500 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River. The storm, named Karen, is moving north-northwest at 13 mph with wind speeds of up to 60 mph and could be hurricane strength by Friday.
A hurricane watch is in effect along the Gulf Coast from Lousiana to Florida.
