In response to U.S. News and World Report’s famous college ranking, Washington Monthly puts out its own College Guide and Rankings issue that measures factors such as the graduation rate of low-income students, efforts to improve teacher quality, tuition increase rates and graduate earnings.

This year, they have launched a new rankings set based on the economic value students receive per dollar: Best Bang for the Buck.

The winners this year include Amherst College, Mass., City University of New York’s Queens College and Bernard M. Baruch College, and California State University — Fullerton.
