Soldiers in Lebanon worked Monday to squelch gunbattles and other violence stemming from Friday’s car bombing that killed an intelligence official in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.

Chief of Lebanon’s police intelligence department, Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan, opposed Syrian involvement in Lebanon.
