Happy 123rd birthday, Yosemite! For your birthday, the government got you nothing
If you’ve visited Google, you’ve noticed that Tuesday’s Google Doodle is in honor of Yosemite National Park’s 123rd birthday.
And what a way to celebrate than with a government shutdown that will keep the park closed on its very special day. It’s about as sad as having a birthday party without any guests.
Yosemite isn’t the only park to meet closure. The government shutdown means that every national park in the country is closed for leisure, including the National Mall in Washington, D.C. And a closed park means that it is technically illegal to enter, so you can forget that afternoon stroll.
And if you happen to stumble upon a National Park today, tweet or Instagram @NewsHour photos of any “closed” signs using #parkshutdown.
