Indonesians Evacuate From Mount Merapi’s Path

The volcano erupting on Indonesia’s Mount Merapi has continued to claim lives as hot ash and gas spew over surrounding areas in one of the worst eruptions in a century.

The last time we connected with Global Post’s intrepid reporter Will Carless, he had just managed to get as close as he could to the erupting mountain. Now we find him, as well as many thousands of others, leaving the region. We caught up with him via phone as he traveled by train to Jakarata.
