Iran restores Facebook and Twitter blocks after “technical glitch”
On Monday, Facebook and Twitter were accessible in Iran for the first time in four years. One day later, Iran restored the social media blocks and said the short-lived access was due to “technical glitches.”
According to the Associated Press, many Iranians believed the lifted ban was a result of newly elected President Hasan Rouhani’s policies. Others believed the access was meant to give Iranian cyber police the ability to trace Iranian social media users.
