The Supreme Court will hear a historic three days of arguments about whether the 2010 Affordable Care Act is constitutional from Monday, March 26, to Wednesday, March 28.
NewsHour hosted a Twitter chat on Tuesday March 27 from 1 – 2 p.m. ET with experts in the field to answer your submitted questions.
The guests were:
- NewsHour health correspondent Betty Ann Bowser
- Mary Agnes Carey, a reporter from Kaiser Health News.
- Neera Tanden, president of the liberal think tank Center for American Progress and a former architect of the health care law.
- Joseph Antos, a scholar in health care and retirement policy at the conservative American Enterprise Institute.
Over half of the chat was dedicated to what Antos called the “central issue”: the individual mandate. The Supreme Court heard arguments about the constitutionality of the mandate Tuesday.
After the jump read more about what Antos, Tanden and Carey had to say about the arguments, comparing car insurance to the mandate and more.
