Making Sense

We have an update on our country-country lyric contest, inspired by the econo-crooner Merle Hazard. Those of you who frequent these pages often will remember our series late last month where Merle lyricized about the financial crises in Spain, Ireland, Italy and Germany, all rounded off by an encore of his Greek debt crisis ditty, which became a pan-Hellenic sensation.

We asked you to submit your own financial crisis lyrics, and across these pages, Twitter and Facebook many of you did. We’ve selected a winner: ‘Davidthewriter’s “Feelin’ Lousy.” Mr. Hazard himself is hard at work learning the lyrics and turning them into song. Stay tuned: the winning lyrics and a video of Merle’s rendition will be posted here soon.
