NASA captures winter storm blanketing northeastern U.S.
NASA’s Aqua satellite captured a true-color image of Thursday’s massive winter storm moving up the east coast of United States. The satellite was able to compile the image using a Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer during several passes over the U.S.
The winter storm, 2014’s first, shut down cities in the Midwest as it made its way towards the Northeast, where it left a foot of snow in some areas Thursday. Freezing temperatures and heavy winds continued in the storm’s aftermath Friday.
