Nasdaq closes at 4000, a 13-year high

The Nasdaq Composite Index closed above the 4,000 mark Tuesday for the first time in 13 years, with help from solid housing data, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The index closed at 4,017.75, the highest level since September, 2010. But the Nasdaq is still far from its all time high of 5,048.62 reached on March 10 of that year.

On the housing front, building permits rose 6.2 percent in October to an adjusted annual rate of 1.03 million units, a five-year high. According to the Case-Shiller index, home prices are up 13.3 percent for September.
