National Zoo panda cub gets first full veterinary exam
The National Zoo’s newest addition got her first full vet exam Monday. Zoo scientists have been anxiously waiting to assess the panda cub since she was born on August 23 in Washington, D.C.

Scientists were able to retrieve the cub for the exam when her mother, Mei Xiang, left the den at 4:11 p.m. and the exam was finished 20 minutes later. The cub weighed in at just below two pounds and is 10.6 inches long. She has yet to open her eyes.
