Thousands of athletes, 4 rings and 1 dog at the Olympics opening ceremony
Television viewers in the U.S. won’t be able to watch the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics until Friday night, but the event, in Sochi, Russia, took place earlier in the day. Thousands of athletes from 85 countries processed through Fisht Olympic Stadium, while dazzling light displays awed the crowd.
Several news agencies and Olympic organizations live tweeted during the spectacular, which NBC will air starting at 7:30 p.m. EST Friday.
